Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Tiger I heavy tank in its late production form with zimmerit, released as a limited edition devoted to the fighting at Villers-Bocage in June 1944. The package contains photo-etched parts, workable tracks assembled from links, decals for several machines and, on top of that, a resin figure of the commander.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank with an 8.8 cm gun and thick frontal armor. Zimmerit, the antimagnetic coating applied to vertical surfaces, was meant to keep magnetic charges from sticking. At Villers-Bocage in Normandy in June 1944 there was an engagement in which a small group of Tigers caught an advancing British column in the town and inflicted heavy losses on it. The action became one of the most often cited tank engagements of the Western Front.
Finish and paint the running gear before you fit the side plates. Assemble the workable tracks in longer runs and let them set in a natural sag. The zimmerit comes out when a dark wash flows into its grooves and the edges are lightly highlighted. Paint the figure separately and fit it last.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
