An injection-molded plastic kit of the American assault tank M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo in 1:35 scale from Asuka, which has a reputation among modelers as one of the most accurate makers of Shermans. Besides the plastic parts the package also contains a photo-etched fret and waterslide decals.
The M4A3E2 Jumbo was the assault version of the Sherman medium tank with markedly thickened armor on the hull, the front and the cast turret, meant to break through heavily defended German positions. It was built in a limited run and proved itself in the fighting in northwestern Europe at the end of the Second World War, where the thicker armor gave crews confidence in leading an attack. The greater weight reduced mobility, yet the Jumbo won a good reputation among tank crews and some of the machines were rearmed in the field with a more powerful gun.
On military vehicles it pays to assemble and fit the running gear and any interior before the hull is closed, so that all the parts can be reached. Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic, apply a base (primer) before painting and lay the shades on with an airbrush. For faithful weathering use washes in the recesses and pigments for mud and dust effects on the running gear and the lower hull. Attach the photo-etched parts with super glue.
