A resin accessory made by direct 3D printing that contains a set of Carley life rafts for 60 people in 1:350 scale. It is not a ship model but detail parts meant to be fitted on the decks of warships. Printing makes it possible to render the lashings, the inner net and the oval shape of the raft far more faithfully than coarse metal or plastic castings.
The Carley float was a simple oval life-saving device with a rigid buoyant ring and an inner net or grating, widely used on warships. Decks carried dozens of rafts in various sizes; rendering them faithfully brings a ship model markedly to life.
Separate the small parts carefully from the print carriers, wash them and bond them with super glue. Given the 1:350 scale, tweezers and a magnifier pay off. Paint the rafts in stages (the buoyant ring and the inner net differently) and bring them out with a dark wash that underlines the structure.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
