The subject is a warship of the Royal Navy carrying the name Cornwall. Several vessels of different generations bore that name in turn, so it is worth checking the subject and its period in the instructions that come with the kit. The model is in 1:350 scale.
It is the established scale for large surface ships. The model stays a sensible size for a display case, and yet it carries separately made superstructures, masts, boats and gun armament. The small parts really are tiny at this scale, so tweezers, a sharp blade and a steady hand pay off. A ship model also offers a large area of deck and sides on which careful spraying and shading come into their own.
Glue the hull first and fill and sand the seam carefully; on ships the lengthwise joint is the most conspicuous flaw of all. Paint the deck before you set the superstructures on it, otherwise it will be hard to reach afterwards. Guide the color division on the side along masking tape stuck to a smooth, well dried coat. Leave fine parts such as masts, railings and guns until the end of the build so that they do not break off during handling. Wash and degrease the whole model before painting.
Paints, glue, filler and add-on sets are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
