A 610 gallon drop tank, late type, for the F-4E and F-4EJ in 1:48 scale is a resin accessory by Reskit intended for a finished Phantom II model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item by Reskit represents an underwing fuel tank of 610 gallons in its late form, as it was carried by the F-4E and the Japanese F-4EJ Phantom II. It is a resin accessory for a finished model. Reskit carries both the early and the late form of the Phantom's centerline tank as separate items, so you choose by the designation the shape matching the period and the version you are building.
The F-4 Phantom II is a twin-engined, two-seat multirole aircraft and one of the most widespread combat types of the second half of the 20th century. The F-4E version brought, among other things, a fixed gun and a modified nose; the F-4EJ is its Japanese license-built counterpart. The centerline drop tank was part of the typical fit of these machines and gives a model the silhouette known from period photographs.
Wash the resin before the build in lukewarm water with detergent. Cut the casting block away with a saw, level the surface with a file and do the sanding wet with your airways protected. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and a gel version gives time to set the part against the centerline pylon. Apply a primer before painting; with the light shades that turn up on Phantoms every imperfection of the surface tells, so it pays to check the surface under the primer.
