This resin set from the Ukrainian manufacturer Reskit replaces the landing gear wheels on a model of the A-1 Skyraider attack aircraft in 1:48 scale, in the form matching the late machines. It is an aftermarket accessory, that is parts fitted in place of the ones supplied in a kit; a model of the aircraft is not part of the package. On a heavy piston-engine machine the wheels are sturdy and clearly visible, so replacing them shows markedly in the overall impression of the model.
The Douglas A-1 Skyraider is an American single-engine piston attack aircraft, designed in the closing stages of the Second World War as a carrier machine for attacks on ground and surface targets. It only reached combat service after the war and became famous for the great load it could carry under the wings and for how long it could stay over an area, which the jets of the day could not manage. It served with the US Navy, the Marine Corps and the US Air Force, and other countries used it too. Several versions were built, single-seat and multi-seat, with different equipment and changes to the airframe and the landing gear.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove any mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the mating surface, protecting your airways while sanding. They are glued with cyanoacrylate, that is super glue. The hub and the tire have different shades, so paint them separately or help yourself with masking at the boundary. On a machine operated from field airstrips it suits to suggest dusting with pigment, but apply it gradually and in thin layers.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is an accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
