Reskit 1:72 F-106 Delta Dart exhaust nozzle is a resin engine exhaust nozzle for a model of the F-106 Delta Dart fighter in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set replaces the simplified plastic part at the tail of the fuselage with a resin casting. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for a kit. The nozzle is one of the first places the eye falls on a finished model, and it is exactly there that injection-molded plastic is at its weakest: the edge is thick and the inside empty. A resin casting can manage a thin wall and internal structure.
The Convair F-106 Delta Dart was an American interceptor with a tailless delta wing which in the 1960s formed the backbone of the air defense of the North American continent. It was powered by a single strong turbojet with an afterburner and carried its armament in an internal weapons bay so that the aircraft kept clean aerodynamic lines. It is characterized by a slender fuselage with a marked waist, a tall vertical tail and side air intakes set far back.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water so that no mold release agent is left on it. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the mating surface on sandpaper laid on a flat base, so that the nozzle sits in line with the fuselage. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The inside comes out best in metal shades over a smooth base, with a dark shade added in the recesses; a smoky tint at the outer edge completes the impression of use. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
