A resin adapter for probe refueling on the A-10C in 1:48 scale. A small accessory for the nose of the model that captures a recent service modification of the attack aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small resin accessory in 1:48 scale that shows the fitting which lets the A-10C attack aircraft take on fuel in flight by the probe and drogue system. It is a single part for the nose of the model, not a kit of the aircraft.
The Thunderbolt II has been fitted from the outset with a receptacle for the rigid refueling boom of the kind that large tanker aircraft lower. In the spring of 2026 the US Air Force tested a fitting that is inserted into that receptacle and turns it into a probe. The machine thus refueled for the first time from a drogue towed behind an HC-130. The solution can be installed straight on the flight line without sending the aircraft to a repair depot, and it widens the range of machines a unit can draw fuel from. A model with this fitting therefore captures a very current form of the attack aircraft.
The part is small, so separate it from the casting block with a sharp scalpel over a mat and preferably over a dish, so that it does not get lost. Clean the area on the nose before bonding and try the fit dry. Super glue in a really small amount holds it; an excess would flood the rivet detail around it. In color it blends with the surrounding fuselage, and only a fine shadow in the transition gives it away.
The package contains only the accessory described, cast in resin.
