The weapon known as the Hammer is among the most characteristic items carried by current French combat aircraft. On a model you will recognize it at first glance by the tail with its rocket module and by the fins at the front, which give the body an unmistakable silhouette.
The basis is an ordinary aircraft bomb, onto which a propulsion section is fitted at the rear and a guidance module at the front. That modular logic is exactly what gave the whole family its name: the range and the way the target is acquired change with the modules chosen. The rocket module makes it possible to release the weapon from a greater distance or from low altitude and keep it on its path to the target, which lets the crew stay out of reach of close-in defenses.
Alignment is the key: all the rounds under the wing have to hang parallel, or the result looks careless. Use a reference plane or mark the position out. The fins are small and bend easily, so leave them for last. In color, weapons of this kind stay in lighter gray tones with prominent colored bands and lettering.
