A resin set of engines and engine cowlings for the Bristol Blenheim Mk.I in 1:48 scale, two pieces of each part. The model is not included.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bristol Blenheim Mk.I was a British twin-engined bomber of the late 1930s which at the time of its appearance was among the fastest machines of its class. It was powered by Bristol Mercury nine-cylinder radials housed in cowlings of large diameter, which make up a striking part of the silhouette of the aircraft. It is precisely the engine nacelles and their front face that a viewer notices first on a model.
The set brings resin parts for the engine and the engine cowling, two pieces of each, so that they cover both nacelles of one aircraft. They replace the simplified parts from the kit and bring out the cylinders, the drives and the inner wall of the cowling, which is visible in the mouth of the nacelle.
Separate the excess material with a saw or a cutting knife a little away from the part and sand the rest down, so that nothing breaks off the thin edges of the cowling. Then wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, otherwise the residues from manufacture will stop the paint adhering. Try the parts dry before gluing, because seating the engine in the nacelle usually calls for a little sanding. The cylinders paint up well with a dark base and a dry brush, which brings out the finning.
The set is meant for modelers who are building the Blenheim in 1:48 scale and want a real engine in the front of the nacelles instead of a blanked-off surface. Working with resin calls for a sharp knife and careful degreasing. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
