The Embraer EMB-312 Tucano is a Brazilian turboprop trainer. It was created for basic and advanced pilot training and its tandem cockpit with two full stations comes close in equipment to jet trainers. The Tucano spread to a number of countries and in armed versions it also flies light combat missions.
The set brings a complete colored cockpit interior. The detail is printed on a 3D printer and transferred onto a decal backing paper, so the relief of the instrument panels, side panels, levers and seats has real height and, once seated, produces a three-dimensional surface with readable dials and markings. The parts are shaped for the Hobby Boss kit in 1:48 scale.
Parts of the QD line are applied the wet way. Cut the part from the sheet, leave it for about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water and slide it off the backing paper onto a cleaned and degreased spot. It has no adhesive layer of its own and holds on a gloss coat, so paint the surface in advance and run a coat of Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22 over it. Pressing with a soft tool blots the surplus water away and settles the material even into slightly curved areas; where the shape is awkward, a drop of cyanoacrylate glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin. It is worth sanding the original molded relief on the plastic away before applying, so that the part sits on a flat surface.
The set suits modelers who want deep cockpit detail without laboriously painting small instruments. Working with the sheet is quick and a beginner can manage it, because it calls for no bending of metal and no spraying of cockpit shades. The package contains only the interior sheet. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
