A cockpit set for the later form of the two-seat strike Eagle with upgraded avionics. The printed surfaces with a relief cover both seats and are cut for the plastic tub of the Hasegawa kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The two-seat combat aircraft has gone through several waves of modification since it was introduced. The original monochrome screens were replaced by color ones, new control panels were added, and with the helmet-mounted sight the placing of some switches changed as well. The rear station of the operator remained occupied by displays across the whole width of the panel, but their layout has shifted. The set captures this later state, not the form from the eighties.
The ratio of 1:48 is the boundary beyond which hand work stops paying off on cockpit accessories. A display fifteen centimeters across shrinks to three millimeters and the lettering around it to tenths of a millimeter. Printing holds such a difference, but even it has a limit: the individual letters on the placards are no longer words but a suggestion. In a smaller ratio, where the same display would measure two millimeters, even the layout disappears; in a larger one, on the contrary, the demand on the fidelity of the artwork grows. That is why 1:48 remains the most frequent choice for this kind of accessory.
It is best to fit them from the back forwards, because the rear wall of the front cockpit is at the same time the front of the operator space, and once it is glued on no tip reaches in there any more. It is good to let the layers set between the individual steps, otherwise a surface already finished shifts at a touch. A final coat of protective varnish unifies the whole and removes the difference between the matte plastic and the glossier surface of the print.
