Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the carrier fighter Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is the ProfiPACK edition, that is the well-equipped line, which besides the plastic contains colored (pre-printed) photo-etched parts, self-adhesive masks for the glazing and the wheels, decals for four different machines and, in this boxing, resin wheels as well. To place Eduard's lines: Weekend is the variant with the same plastic but without the etch and masks and with a leaner decal sheet; Royal Class and Limited edition are on the contrary the richest boxings (often two kits in one box and a pile of extras). ProfiPACK sits between them - it is a fully equipped kit that you build straight from the box to a high level of detail without having to buy extras.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was an American carrier fighter of the Second World War, designed as a direct answer to the Japanese A6M Zero fighter. While the Zero relied on low weight and agility at the cost of having no armor, the Hellcat was rugged, well armored, with a powerful radial engine and heavy armament. It was also easy to fly, which shortened the training of new pilots. The combination worked: the Hellcat became the main US Navy fighter in the Pacific and achieved a very favorable kill ratio. The F6F-5 version was the last main production variant. The late machines differ from the early ones above all in the deletion of the windows behind the cockpit - and it is that late form the kit represents. The decals belong to US Navy machines from the fighting of 1944 to 1945.
Glue the plastic parts with a thin cement for polystyrene (extra thin), and the colored photo-etched parts on the contrary with cyanoacrylate - and with as little as possible, so that the color of the etch does not go matte. Use a primer before spraying, otherwise the paint holds badly on the etch and the resin. Late Hellcats carried an overall dark blue naval finish; a single-color scheme is rewarding for modulation - lighten the centers of the panels and the wing surfaces with a slightly lightened shade, otherwise the model looks flat. Before the decals, coat the surface with gloss varnish (to prevent silvering) and knock it back to matte once it has dried. Wash the resin wheels free of mold release agent residue before gluing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
