An injection-molded plastic model of the American carrier-based night fighter Grumman F6F-5N Hellcat in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is the simpler Weekend edition, focused on quality plastic without photo-etch and masks, with a decal sheet. The characteristic mark of the -5N version is the radar pod on the leading edge of the right wing, which made the Hellcat an effective night hunter.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was a rugged carrier-based fighter of the US Navy in the Second World War, powered by the Pratt and Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine. The F6F-5N night version was fitted with a radar in a pod on the wing and served to intercept enemy aircraft in the dark over the Pacific. The Hellcat was among the most successful American naval fighters of the war, with a high number of kills.
Glue the parts with a thin modeling cement for plastic and fill and sand the joints where needed. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting and lay the colors on with an airbrush in thin coats. The dark blue schemes of naval machines benefit from fine shading of the panels and from bringing out the detail with a wash; work out the radar pod and the canopy frames carefully.
