This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale captures the Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero Model 52 carrier fighter in the mid production batch. It is a new mold from the Japanese brand FineMolds, which belongs among the very best that reaches the market today. The parts are crisply molded, with fine surface and cockpit detail. The set includes decals for two color schemes of dark green mid-series machines.
The A6M5 Model 52 was the most widespread variant of the legendary Zero. It entered service in 1943 and differed from the older versions in its shortened, rounded wingtips and the longer barrel of the 20 mm cannon, which improved performance at higher speeds. Mitsubishi-built and Nakajima-built machines differed slightly in their paint and in the rendering of the national insignia, and this particular edition reflects that.
The model uses an interesting fuselage construction shaped with slide molds, thanks to which the assembly is accurate. We recommend thin plastic cement, a primer coat and airbrush painting. The canopy glazing comes out best after polishing and a coat of gloss varnish compatible with the paint used.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
