A pair of Martin-Baker Mk.H5 ejection seats for a model of the McDonnell F-4C or F-4D Phantom II in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Martin-Baker Mk.H5 seats were fitted in the Phantoms of the US Air Force in the F-4C and F-4D versions. The British firm Martin-Baker is one of the main suppliers of ejection seats in the world and you will know its products by their typical layout: a tall backrest, a firing handle between the knees and a second one above the head, plus the harness and the survival gear stowed in the seat pan.
There are two seats, exactly the number a two-seat Phantom needs: one for the pilot in front and one for the weapon systems officer in the back. The seats take the place of the simplified parts from the kit.
The cockpits of a Phantom are clearly visible under the long glazing, so it pays to dry-fit the seats before the fuselage is glued and to adjust the mating surface if needed. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; the exact procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Set the padding, the harness straps and the metal structure apart with different shades and leave the colored handles and the lettering to the very end.
For builders of Phantoms in 1:48 scale who find the seats from the kit too coarse. The kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
