A decal cockpit set for the license-built version of the subsonic fighter in East German service, in 1:48 scale, for the Kinetic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Polish production took over the Soviet design and supplied finished aircraft to several armies of the Eastern Bloc. These machines served for a number of years with the air force of the German Democratic Republic and differed from the Soviet production examples in small points of equipment and in the language of the lettering in the cockpit.
Two decal cockpit sets are made for the same kit. At first glance they differ only by a bracket in the designation. The difference is inside: each carries a different form of the lettering on the instruments and differently worked console details, depending on whether you are building a Soviet production example or a license-built machine in German colors.
The decision is therefore simple. Choose the fuselage marking scheme you want to use first, and only then the set. They can be swapped physically without trouble, but the display case would then hold a machine with the armament of one air force and the lettering of another.
The film will take careful shaping with a toothpick into shallow hollows, but do not press it into sharp corners. The seat belts are laid on last, once the seat is firmly in place and the paint under it has fully cured.
Since the two sets differ only in which operator they are made for, what has to decide is the picture on the box and the list of marking schemes the kit offers. Finding that out beforehand pays off.
