A replacement wheels set for the MiG-31 model in 1:48 scale. It goes in place of the kit wheels and raises the level of landing gear detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MiG-31 is a heavy two-seat interceptor with a pair of turbofan engines, built for long patrol flights at high altitude. Its weight left its mark on the landing gear as well: the main legs carry two wheels in tandem so that the load is spread over a larger area. This unusual tandem is immediately visible on the model, which is why it pays to have it right.
A set of replacement wheels for the MiG-31 in 1:48 scale, meant to go in place of the wheels supplied in the kit. The parts are not polystyrene, ordinary plastic cement has no effect on them and they are joined with super glue. Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest off carefully so that the shape of the tire is not damaged. The manufacturer's instructions give the exact procedure for preparing the parts.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold well. Do not paint the tires pure black; a muted dark gray looks more true to life in scale. Set the hubs apart in color and add a fine wash. If the tires are made with a flat, turn that face to the ground and check that the model stands on all its wheels at once. Fit the wheels only after the gear legs are painted, since once they are glued on you can no longer get at them.
For modelers who build the MiG-31 in 1:48 scale and want to raise the level of detail in a place everyone looks at. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
