Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero carrier fighter (Type 21, Allied reporting name Zeke) in 1:48 scale from Tamiya. The model captures the shape of this famous aircraft faithfully, it has a finely detailed surface and a well worked out cockpit; the canopy can be assembled open or closed and the landing gear shown extended or retracted. The box holds two pilot figures and several marking options, among them a machine connected with a well-known Japanese fighter ace.
The A6M2 Zero, Type 21, was a carrier fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service and in the first years of the war in the Pacific it was among the most feared machines of all. It stood out for its exceptional range, its agility and its light structure, for which it paid with weaker armor. It was powered by a Sakae radial engine and armed with a combination of machine guns and cannon. In its day it was an unpleasant surprise for the Allies and it became a symbol of Japanese naval aviation.
Paint and fit the cockpit before you close the fuselage up, mask the glazing of the sectioned canopy and paint it together with the airframe; decide whether you will show the cockpit and the landing gear open or closed. A light gray-green tint to the airframe is typical of early Type 21 machines, but check the color against the scheme you choose. Pick out the panel lines with a fine wash and build the camouflage transitions in soft layers. Apply the decals onto a smooth gloss coat and finish with a matte clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
