The second form of standing Bronco pilots from the Reskit brand for 1:48 scale. The manufacturer lists the individual variants as separate items, so a modeler can put a scene together from several sets and avoid repeating the same figures. Exactly how the forms differ from each other you can tell from the pictures on the boxes of both sets.
The Bronco worked in a setting where the support apparatus shrank to a few people and a field strip. Crews spent a lot of time out of the cockpit, at the machine, with a map or in conversation with the ground crew. The deployment of this type falls in a time when a propeller machine with a pair of tail booms looked almost archaic next to jets, yet did work the fast machines could not have managed. That makes the ground scenes around it a rewarding subject.
If you are putting a scene together from several sets, unify the skin tone across all the figures, otherwise the group looks disjointed. The gear and its wear, by contrast, you can freely vary. The shadow under the chin and in the armpits is what decides whether a figure stands or floats. Finally unify everything with a flat varnish and leave a sheen only where it belongs, that is on the helmet and the footwear.
The figures come without a finish; the painting and the placing into a scene stay with the modeler.
