A plastic kit of the BAe Sea Harrier FRS1 (Kinetic) in 1:48 scale — the British carrier fighter with vertical and short take-off.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from Kinetic. It captures the Sea Harrier FRS1 version, famous for its use in the Falklands War of 1982. The box contains gray plastic parts, a clear canopy, a well detailed cockpit and a quality decal sheet with a wide choice of markings for machines from the conflict and outside it. The kit shares some sprues with a related version, so during the build follow the instructions carefully and use the correct nose and wings.
The Sea Harrier was a unique carrier fighter capable of both vertical and short take-off thanks to the vectored thrust of its jet engine. From small British aircraft carriers it took off along an inclined ramp (ski-jump) and landed vertically, which allowed it to operate even where a conventional fighter would not have enough deck. In the Falklands War it proved its worth in the air defense of the task force and in attacks on ground targets, and it became a symbol of British naval aviation of that time.
Go through the instructions before the build and identify the parts intended for this version. First finish the cockpit and the landing gear bays, and only then close the fuselage. Use liquid cement for plastic, a primer and an airbrush; mask the clear canopy before painting. Glue the pylons and the armament with care. The typical naval gray finish comes alive with soft transitions, washes in the engraved lines and discreet service weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
