Landing gear and its wells for a MiG-21MF model, 1:48 scale, from RYE FIELD MODEL. The set targets two spots that tend to be the most simplified on mainstream kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from RYE FIELD MODEL focuses on the underside of the Soviet fighter MiG-21MF model — the spaces the landing gear retracts into, and the legs with wheels themselves. On injection-molded kits, these are exactly the spots that end up necessarily simplified, because the mold cannot reach into narrow bays. The set does not form a model on its own; it belongs with a kit of the same type and scale.
The MiG-21MF stood on a nose-wheel landing gear, where the front leg retracted forward into the fuselage and the main legs with wheels retracted into the space between the fuselage and the delta wing's leading edge. On the real aircraft, the bays were full of hydraulic lines, wiring, and structural bracing — none of which you will find on a model straight from the box. That is exactly why sets like this exist: on a model standing on its gear in 1:48 scale, everyone looks underneath it too.
Fit and paint the bays before closing the wing and fuselage. It helps to test-fit dry to see whether the part collides with the inner plastic wall, and remove any excess with careful sanding. Use cyanoacrylate to attach it, reach for an airbrush to paint it, and let a light wash flow into the recesses so the lines stand out from the surface.
