An injection-molded plastic kit of the battleship Mutsu from the maker Fujimi. The model captures the ship as she was at the outbreak of the war in the Pacific and faithfully renders the small differences that set Mutsu apart from her sister Nagato. In the package you will find plastic parts, decals and finely detailed superstructure in the popular 1:700 scale.
Mutsu was the second ship of the Nagato class and, like her sister, carried main guns of 41 cm (16 inch) caliber. For most of her service she performed training and support duties. Her fate was tragic: in June 1943 a devastating explosion in the magazine of one of her gun turrets sank her while she lay at anchor, and most of the crew were lost.
Assemble the hull and the decks first and fill the seams, and only then add the fine armament and the superstructure. Apply the steel surfaces with an airbrush; the wooden decks can be done with a mask or with a careful brush. Railings, ladders and cranes are improved by a separately bought photo-etched set. Keep the weathering restrained, so that the model looks convincing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
