An injection-molded plastic kit of the Czechoslovak Aero A-12 biplane in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Special Hobby. The short-run kit is complemented by resin and etched parts and by decals for several machines that became famous at the speed races of the day. It is the very first plastic model of this type.
The Aero A-12 was a Czechoslovak single-engine biplane of the 1920s, designed as a reconnaissance and light bomber aircraft. It entered service with the Czechoslovak Air Force and made its mark in history through its performances at home speed races, where machines of this type set several records, among the very first achieved by Czechoslovak airmen. Structurally it is typical for its mixed construction and its rich bracing of struts and wires.
As with any biplane, reckon with rigging between the wings and the fuselage, because stretched bracing from drawn lithographic foil or thread will lift the final impression a level higher. Wash the resin parts to remove any mold release agent and cut the casting blocks off, then glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Clean the short-run plastic parts up and dry-fit them. Protect the glazing by masking it, and at the end apply a primer and paint with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
