1:72 F-104 (A, C, D, J, G) Starfighter exhaust nozzle for Revell/Monogram kit is a replacement engine exhaust nozzle. The set is cut for the Revell and Monogram kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The accessory replaces the rear termination of the fuselage around the engine outlet, that is the place where production plastic castings diverge from the real subject most often. The manufacturer offers two otherwise identical items and what tells them apart is precisely which kit they belong to: this one is cut for the Revell and Monogram kits, the sister one for Hasegawa. The range in the name delimits the A, C, D, J and G versions.
The Starfighter arose in the middle of the 1950s as a light supersonic interceptor with a short, extraordinarily thin wing and a slender fuselage which in its shape approached a rocket. The General Electric J79 power plant with an afterburner had a variable exhaust nozzle; at rest on the ground its petals opened out into a characteristic flower. It is precisely this element that is among the most conspicuous on a finished model, and seen from the rear it betrays the quality of the whole build.
Try the opening in the fuselage dry and if need be widen it carefully, so that the part settles without pressure and does not open the seams up. Apply metallic shades onto a smooth, perfectly filled base. The gradation of the individual panels can be managed with masking tape and a slight change of tone, and leave sooting and traces of heat until the very end.
The package contains this one modification only, and the basic kit has to be obtained separately.
