Standing A-7 Corsair II pilot in 1:72, type 1 is a pilot figure for completing a model of the American attack aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A figure of a pilot standing, intended to complete a model of the A-7 attack aircraft. The designation type 1 marks the first of the poses offered in this series. Even at the smaller scale a figure lifts the impression of a finished model considerably, because it supplies the missing human comparison.
The A-7 was created as the successor to the carrier-borne Skyhawk and its shape followed on from the F-8 fighter. It was slower but carried a substantially greater bomb load and had outstanding navigation equipment for its day. It served with the US Navy as well as with the US Air Force, and its career runs from the 1960s to the end of the Cold War. It was nicknamed after its stocky shape, and among modelers it is popular precisely for that unmistakable silhouette.
At this scale work with larger areas and less detail. Spray the figure with a base, darken the hollows with a glaze and suggest the edges with a dry brush. Do the face in two or three tones without drawing the eyes, which reads better at a normal viewing distance. Set the helmet apart with a glossier surface so that it does not merge with the suit, and tie the whole thing together at the end with a light clear coat. Apply the paint thinned, or the fine relief of the folds will disappear.
The package is a figure set; do not look for an aircraft in it.
