An aftermarket 3D-printed resin set of exhaust nozzles for the late versions of the twin-engine multi-role F-4 Phantom II in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane kit but replacement parts for the tail end of a model. The set is intended for the E, J, F, G and S variants with the matching style of J79 engine nozzles and is shaped to one particular plastic kit.

About the detail

The exhaust nozzles are one of the first places the eye falls on a finished Phantom model. In 1:72 scale, molded plastic usually simplifies them, whereas 3D printing captures the petals, the ribbing and the inner walls sharply and symmetrically. The late versions used different nozzles from the early machines, so it matters which set you choose for the version you are building.

Use and fitting

• Wash the print resin residue off the parts and let them dry.
• Separate the print supports and clean up the mating surfaces with respiratory protection.
• Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
• Bring out the inside of the nozzles with metallic and dark shades and add heat staining.
