About product

Eduard 1:72 OH-1 Ninja - painting masks

A set of self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech maker Eduard, cut from thin kabuki paper (washi). The masks serve for fast, accurate masking of the frames of the cabin glazing while paint is sprayed onto the plastic model of the OH-1 helicopter in 1:72 scale. It is not a model but an accessory that makes clean painting easier.

The real subject

The Kawasaki OH-1 Ninja is a Japanese twin-engine light scout and observation helicopter developed for the ground component of the Japan Self-Defense Forces. It is marked by a slender fuselage with a tandem cabin layout and a modern hingeless rotor.

Use and tips

  • Lift the masks carefully off the sheet and apply them exactly to the shape of the glazing frames.
  • Press the edges down with a toothpick or a stick so that paint does not run under the mask.
  • Apply the paint in fine coats, ideally with an airbrush.
  • Remove the masks while the paint is still fresh, not fully cured.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers building the OH-1 helicopter in 1:72 scale.
  • Anyone who wants sharp, clean paint transitions on the glazing.
  • Beginners and advanced modelers who want to avoid laborious masking with tape.

This is an accessory for a plastic model. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
