1:72 SAAB JAS 39 Gripen pitot tubes and angle-of-attack sensors is a turned metal MASTER set for a small scale. It is not a kit but a replacement for the finest parts of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set from the Polish brand MASTER intended to complete a model of the Swedish multi-role aircraft JAS 39 Gripen in 1:72 scale. According to the name it holds several pressure tubes and several angle-of-attack sensor probes. The exact number of pieces is stated on the packaging of the set.
It is in 1:72 that the difference between plastic and metal is at its greatest. For a plastic tube to be moldable at all and not break when taken off the sprue, it has to be needlessly thick. The result is an oversized protrusion with a parting line that also snaps off at the first touch. Turned metal can be thin exactly to scale, because its strength comes from the material, not from the diameter. Added to that are an open front to the tube and the ability to keep a pair of probes to the same size and symmetry.
In a small scale work with fine-tipped tweezers and apply the glue with a stick or a wire, not straight from the bottle. Gel consistency super glue is easier to control than thin. Drill the hole with the finest micro drill bit you have and increase the diameter one step at a time. Paint the metal parts before gluing them in; masking on a finished model is difficult in this scale. The order is always the same: degrease with alcohol, primer for metal, covering shade. Glue the probes on at the very end and never pick the finished model up by the nose again. When dusting it, use a soft wide brush rather than stiff bristles.
An accessory to a base model, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
