CR-1 Primary Color Pigments - Cyan Gloss (Cellulose)

What a primary color is for

CR-1 is the cyan component of the trio of primary colors, which the magenta CR-2 and the yellow CR-3 complete. A wide range of shades can be mixed from the three primary tones: cyan with yellow gives greens, with magenta blues and purples, and in a small admixture it cools down grays and greens that have come out too warm. The word Cellulose in the name says that this is a solvent-based paint on a cellulose base, not a paint thinnable with water.

Where it is useful

On the bright blue areas of modern civil machinery, sports cars and science fiction models, and above all as a starting tone when mixing greens, which ready-made ranges hit only roughly. Anyone who mixes shades of their own will manage with the three primary colors and white even where they would otherwise have to buy several ready-made bottles. The gloss surface once dry is at the same time a good base under decals.

How to apply the paint

• Stir the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
• Thin it with the thinner meant for this range, not with water.
• Spray thin coats, as a thick application of a solvent-based paint can attack bare polystyrene.
• Write down the shades you mix as a ratio of parts, otherwise the same tone will not come out a second time.
• Work in a ventilated space and protect your airways.
