1:72 Swedish Strv.103B is a plastic kit of the Swedish turretless main battle tank Strv 103B in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter.

This injection-molded plastic kit covers the Swedish Strv 103 main battle tank in the B version, that is a machine unlike anything else in the display case. It has no rotating turret and the gun is fixed into the hull. The 1:72 scale makes it a compact model, but thanks to its unmistakable silhouette it catches the eye among other tanks at once.
The Strv 103, nicknamed the S-tank, was the Swedish answer to the defense of their own territory. The designers left out the turret and mounted the gun rigidly in the hull; aiming is done with the whole vehicle, for which it uses hydropneumatic suspension that changes the pitch of the hull and turning on the spot on its tracks. The low silhouette hides superbly in terrain, and the frontal armor is highly resistant thanks to its steep slope. The powerplant was combined: a diesel engine was supplemented by a gas turbine for movement and rapid maneuvers. The B version represents the more powerful and fully matured form of this concept. The machines served the Swedish army for several decades and remained the only production turretless main battle tank of their day.
The model has a great many flat surfaces, so it pays to sand the joints carefully, or they will stand out under the paint. Finish the running gear before the hull is closed. Unify the surface with a primer and then airbrush the striking Swedish camouflage with the hard edges that are typical of this type. Handle the boundaries between shades with masking putty or tape. Keep the weathering restrained, so that the camouflage stays legible, and concentrate the dust on the lower hull and on the fenders.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
