A plastic kit of the 1:72 Xian FBC-1 Flying Leopard from Trumpeter — a Chinese twin-engine fighter-bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Chinese two-seat fighter-bomber Xian FBC-1 Flying Leopard in 1:72 scale. The designation FBC-1 is the export trade name of the aircraft, which is designated JH-7 in Chinese military service. The kit is manufactured by Trumpeter.
The Flying Leopard was developed and is built by the aircraft plant in Xian as a twin-engine strike aircraft with a two-man crew seated in tandem. It has a high-mounted swept wing, side-mounted air intakes, and a single vertical tail. It is powered by a pair of turbofan engines derived from a British licensed design, which China now produces under its own designation. The type's main role is striking surface targets with anti-ship guided missiles and attacking ground targets; it can also handle self-defense air combat as a secondary role. The aircraft serves with both PLA Naval Aviation and the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).
On a two-seat aircraft, finish both seats and instrument panels before closing the fuselage, since they are clearly visible through the long canopy. Fill and sand the air intakes and their internal ducts so no stepped seam remains. Apply paint with an airbrush in thin coats; naval schemes on Chinese hardware tend to be two-tone, so plan the transitions in advance. Apply a gloss coat before decals, and finish by unifying the surface with a matte or satin coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
