FAB-500M-54 aerial bomb, 1:48 is a 3D-printed resin replica of the Soviet high-explosive fragmentation aerial bomb in the 500 kilogram class in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds a 3D-printed resin replica of the Soviet FAB-500M-54 aerial bomb in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory for the external stores, not an aircraft model. The print holds the smooth body, the thin tail surfaces and the suspension lugs, which an injection mold inevitably thickens.
The FAB-500M-54 is a Soviet high-explosive fragmentation aerial bomb in the 500 kilogram weight class, of mid-1950s design. The shape of the body is stubbier than on the later versions of the same class, so the designation is not a mere formality and helps to date a machine. Bombs of this class were carried by tactical bombers and fighter-bombers on wing and fuselage pylons alike. They were among the most common munitions of their kind.
Wash the 3D-printed parts in warm soapy water first, to get rid of any print resin residue. Cut the print supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as you can and sand the marks away with respiratory protection. Resin does not bond with polystyrene cement, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold well on the smooth print. Assemble and paint the armament separately and glue it to the pylon only once the varnish has dried, so that the fine surfaces do not get rubbed.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
