The set brings a 3D printed airfield tow bar for the MiG-31 in 1:32 scale from Temp Models. It is not a model of the aircraft but a piece of ground equipment: one end of the bar latches onto the nose landing gear leg and the other onto the coupling of the airfield tug that moves the aircraft around the parking apron. The shape of the attachment differs for each type, and it is exactly that difference the set captures.
The MiG-31 is a heavy two-seat interceptor derived from the MiG-25, brought into service at the beginning of the 1980s. It carries a powerful onboard radar and long-range guided missiles, and a group of aircraft can work in a formation linked to one another. With a take-off weight of over forty tons it is among the heaviest fighters ever.
The parts are printed from resin and are held only by thin supports. Cut them off with a sharp scalpel as close to the part as possible, sand the marks down with fine sandpaper and protect your airways while sanding. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint holds longer on a smooth print if you lay a thin coat of primer under it. Ground equipment is brought to life by a dark wash run into the recesses and by drybrushing on the edges.
The set is an addition to building a model, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
