What the platform is for

A universal work platform for the modeling bench. While being worked, a part lies on it or rests against it, so that cutting, leveling and sanding small parts has one dedicated place and does not get mixed up with the model under construction. Why a firm surface pays off

Most unsuccessful cuts and crookedly sanded edges come about because the part moves at the moment of the cut. On a firm flat surface the blade is guided more surely, the pressure goes into the support instead of into your fingers and the piece cut off does not disappear under the bench. In the same way it is easier to keep things level when sanding: a part held against a flat surface is sanded evenly, whereas held loose in the hand the edges get rounded. A dedicated surface also protects the bench top, which otherwise gets a groove from every cut.

How to work with the platform

• Wipe the surface before work; grains left from sanding will print into the part.
• Guide the blade away from the body and rather in several shallow strokes than one strong one.
• Hold small parts with tweezers, not with your fingers.
• Change a dull blade in good time; a dull blade slips and tears the plastic instead of cutting it.
• Clean the surface when you are done and store the tool flat, so that it does not rest on its edges.
