Barbarian Skin

Dark flesh for barbarians and half-orcs

Barbarian Skin is an acrylic shade from the Game Air fantasy palette, which the manufacturer bottles directly in a consistency prepared for the airbrush. The tone aims at the tanned skin of warriors from harsh regions: it has noticeably more brown and reddish content than pale flesh colors, so it serves as the lower layer over which the highlights are only then built. The pigment is finely ground so that it passes through the nozzle without trouble, and the dried film stays matte.

When another version makes more sense

The same fantasy palette also exists in a version intended for the brush. That one is thicker, stays on the bristles and makes sense when you are painting a single figure, a small face or hands and do not want to start up a compressor for it. This version counts on the opposite approach: thin coats over a whole area, where thick paint would clog the nozzle. The difference lies in the consistency and in the way of working, not in the color itself.

The second option is the flesh tones from the manufacturer's historical selection. They tend to be more restrained and graded in smaller steps for scale figures, whereas this shade is richer and built for collector fantasy models, where a stronger contrast between shadow and light is expected.

Shake the contents of the bottle thoroughly before work; a mixing ball inside will speed up the blending. Bare plastic needs a thin primer first, otherwise the shade holds less well on the smooth surface and rubs off during handling. Flush the tools right after finishing, dried acrylic is considerably harder to get out of the nozzle.
