A photo-etched set for refining the frame of the German SSyms heavy flatcar with a capacity of 80 t in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The SSyms was a German heavy flatcar with a capacity of eighty tons. It carried tanks and other heavy equipment, so it appears wherever a scene captures the movement of a unit by rail, a loading ramp or the transport of a captured machine. The frame of the car is a slender lattice structure with a great many stiffeners and brackets, and it is exactly that which is simplified the most on a model.
A photo-etched set for refining the frame of the SSyms car in 1:35 scale. Thin metal sheet makes it possible to render the stiffeners, pressings and small brackets in a thickness that matches the scale. The exact extent of the parts and the assembly procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface, not with nippers; the sheet would otherwise bend. Make the folds in a bending tool or over the edge of a steel ruler, and always along the whole length at once, not in sections. The parts are joined with super glue, or alternatively by soldering. Before gluing, degrease the sheet, and on metal use a primer meant for metal surfaces, or the paint will come off during handling. A finished frame takes pronounced accenting: a dark glaze into the corners and suggested corrosion on the edges.
The set is intended for more experienced modelers who build rail transport in 1:35 scale and will not settle for a simplified frame. Working with photo-etch calls for patience and a couple of extra tools, but the reward is the underside of a car that bears close inspection in this scale.
Paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
