Clear Green is a transparent green, that is a paint which does not cover the surface underneath but tints it. The resulting tone therefore depends on what lies below and on how many coats you lay down: over a silver or chrome base it gives the impression of glass lit from within, over white the shade brightens, over a dark base it deepens toward bottle green.
Most often on the position lights of aircraft, where the green one is on the right-hand side of the machine, then on lamp and beacon covers of vehicles, on signal glass, bottles and small backlit elements in a diorama. It is also used to tint clear parts lightly and to tone a gloss finish where the surface is to take on a hint of color without losing its transparency.
The thinner and the thinning ratio follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; use the thinner intended for this line. Stir the paint and apply it in thin coats, because the saturation builds with every further one; a single heavy coat easily pools into blotches. The surface underneath has to be smooth and clean, as every scratch stays visible under a transparent paint. On small elements a pointed brush and a drop of paint left to flow into the recess of its own accord work well. Work in a well-ventilated area.
The package contains the paint itself. Thinner, cleaner, brushes and spraying equipment are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
