Launchers for the MiG-29 1:32 from Temp Models

The set contains 3D printed resin launchers on which the MiG-29 carries air-to-air guided missiles, in 1:32 scale. It is an accessory for the load, not a model of an aircraft. The print holds the sharp edges of the rails as well as the small attachment fittings, which a mold rounds off. For the upgraded SMT form the manufacturer lists a separate item.

The real subject

The MiG-29 carries close-combat missiles on rail launchers under the wing and the heavier medium-range missiles on pylons closer to the fuselage. The arrangement of pylons determines the silhouette of an aircraft with a full load and differs according to the version and according to which weapons the machine carries. In aerial photographs the pylons are often empty, because the weapons are loaded only before a combat sortie. For a model it is the detail that holds the whole load together.

Building and painting tips

First wash the 3D printed parts in warm water with a little dish soap, so that they are rid of the residue of printing resin. Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand the marks down with your airways protected. Resin does not bond with cement for polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Lay a thin coat of primer on before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth print. Assemble and paint the weapons separately and glue them onto the pylon only once the varnish has dried, so that the fine surfaces are not rubbed.
