A resin set of landing gear wheels for a model of the Su-33 carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. Printing in resin renders the tread pattern and the shape of the hub without the parting line that runs down the middle of a plastic wheel. It is not an aircraft kit but replacement parts for your own model.
The Su-33 is the carrier version of the heavy fighter of the Su-27 family, adapted for launching from a deck with a ski-jump ramp and for landing on arrestor wires. It is the deck landing that is the hardest test the aircraft puts the landing gear through: the machine comes down without flaring and with its full weight. The landing gear therefore received a strengthened structure and different wheels from the land-based version, so swapping parts between the two machines is not in order.
Cut the supports off with a scalpel and level the mating spot, so that the wheel sits square to the leg. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the tire a very dark gray and the hub separately, following the real thing. On a deck the equipment is exposed to salt spray, so a light weathering more toward gray than brown suits it.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
