Khaki Grey is a muted khaki tone with a gray cast, that is, a color with no pronounced green and no warm sandy undertone. It is precisely this position that makes it useful wherever pure khaki would look too loud: on faded cloth, on canvas bleached by the sun or on equipment that has seen some service. The shade belongs to the Model Color range by Vallejo.
Most often on the uniforms and equipment of figures, on straps, bags and tent sections, on vehicle tarpaulins and on the fabric parts of gear. It also serves well as a base for shading with a darker color in the shadows and a lighter one on raised places, because it is neutral enough on its own and does not overpower what comes after it.
The paint is acrylic and is thinned with water or with the thinner of the same range; the thinning ratio is stated by the manufacturer. Shake the bottle before work, as the pigment settles at the bottom. The Model Color range is built mainly for a brush, so apply it in two or three thin coats and let each one dry, since one heavy coat fills the detail and leaves brush marks. For spraying, thin the paint more. Wash the brushes out in water immediately after work, as dried acrylic can no longer be got out of the bristles.
