A gloss clear varnish has two main roles on a model. First, it prepares the surface for decals: on a smooth gloss surface no air remains trapped under the carrier film and the edges of the decal do not silver. Second, it seals the finished paintwork and protects it during further work, that is when a dark unifying wash is applied, when the edges are brought out and during ordinary handling of the model.
The varnish thins with water, so you can do without aggressive thinners and wash your tools with water while the varnish is still fresh. Once dry, the layer no longer releases in water. Work in a room at ordinary temperature and out of a draft; cold and high humidity slow the drying and can show up as clouding.
Stir the contents slowly before use rather than shaking them, so that no bubbles get into the varnish. Apply thin coats and let the varnish dry between them; a thick coat runs and floods the detail. For spraying, thin the varnish slightly as needed and try the procedure first on a scrap of plastic, because how the varnish behaves also depends on the color underneath.
The varnish will be used by anyone who works with decals on a model or wants a gloss surface on bodywork or canopy framing. Paints, thinner, brushes and models are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
