A detailed replacement landing gear in 1:72 scale from the Russian manufacturer Temp Models. For the set the manufacturer gives finely detailed nose and main legs in the ground position with imitated electrical and hydraulic systems and landing lights, as well as a mudguard and wheels. According to the manufacturer the legs are made by 3D prototyping from a high-strength polymer and reinforced with steel rods.
The MiG-29 SMT is the upgraded form of the tactical fighter with an enlarged fuselage spine, which took another fuel tank and newer avionics. The higher takeoff weight makes greater demands on the landing gear than on the original versions, so the sturdiness of the legs and the strength of replacement parts matter even more on this form. The nose leg carries a prominent mudguard protecting the engines from debris off the runway.
Landing gear legs are among the most heavily loaded parts of a model. The steel reinforcement inside the parts raises their load capacity markedly, yet let the joints cure thoroughly before you stand the model on its wheels. Cut the print supports away with a scalpel and sand the pad, and glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue, that is with super glue. Landing gear legs used to be light gray and got dirty quickly, so a dark wash and fine traces of dust show up well on them. Sanding is best done wet and with respiratory protection.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
