In the Gunze Hobby Color range the paint carries the designation H019 and it is a pink shade in a gloss finish. The gloss keeps the surface smooth and even, so that the light runs across it with no matte patches and the fine relief stays readable. A gloss coat also suits a base under decals: the film seats on it with no air pockets and its edge does not show up as a light rim once it has dried.
A saturated pink appears on the modeling bench above all where the color is meant to be seen: on the painted surfaces of cars and motorcycles, on accessories and toys for scenes with a present-day subject, on figures, on science fiction and fantasy themes and on advertising lettering. It also serves well for mixing, when you need to shift a red shade into a lighter and softer position without having to mute it with white.
Mix the pot thoroughly before work so that the settled component disperses through the whole volume. The thinner intended for this range and the thinning ratio are given by the manufacturer on the packaging, so follow the instructions. Apply thin coats onto a smooth and degreased base and let each one flash off; one thick coat floods the detail and dries unevenly. A saturated pink covers badly over a dark base, so put a light base coat under it, which will save you two coats as well. Clean the tools right after work and close the pot carefully.
