An accessory for dioramas in 1:72 scale in the form of a cross with the figure of Jesus Christ.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small accessory for a scene in 1:72 scale: a cross with the figure of Jesus Christ. It suits dioramas of the European countryside as well as town and village scenes.
Wayside and field crosses belong to the landscape of central and western Europe as naturally as field boundaries and avenues of trees. In a scene they do a great deal of work: put a cross at the edge of a road and the diorama immediately gains a place and a period, and the viewer's eye has something to hold on to. It serves just as well by a church, in a graveyard, on a village green or as a quiet counterweight to the vehicles in the foreground.
Wash and degrease the surface before painting, cut the excess material and the traces of production away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand off what is left. A cross looks convincing when it is not painted too cleanly: a dark base, then dry-brushing in a lighter shade of stone or wood and finally light dirtying where the rain would drive against it. A metal version can be suggested with a dark metallic shade and a faint hint of copper green. Set the cross into the ground only once the surrounding terrain is painted.
For builders of dioramas in 1:72 scale who finish the surroundings of a scene and not only the main model.
Terrain, figures, paints and glue are not supplied, unless stated otherwise.
