Magenta — acrylic paint from AMMO of Mig Jimenez

A magenta from the acrylic range of AMMO of Mig Jimenez. It is a paint with an acrylic binder, thinned with water or with an acrylic thinner of the same type; the tools are cleaned with water while the paint is still wet. Take care when choosing: under the name Magenta the maker also runs a product in its weathering branch for dry brushing, and other brands use the same name for oil paints. Use

• Mixing your own palette — magenta is, along with cyan and yellow, one of the basic chromatic tones.
• Saturated red-violet markings, stripes, accessories and gaming models.
• Toning the pink and wine shades that cannot be mixed from red and white.
• Applied with a brush and with an airbrush once thinned to a looser consistency.

Work tips

Magenta has high tinting strength, so add it to light colors drop by drop. As a flat color it needs a light base — on a gray or black primer it loses its brightness and goes more toward brown-violet. Shake the paint thoroughly, as saturated pigments settle. If you want the shade to stay constant across the whole model, mix a supply in advance; topping up afterward is hard to match with chromatic tones.
