1:16 German Workable Cable Holders Early (Tiger I + II / 3D-Printed) is a printed set of workable towing cable holders for large models of German heavy tanks.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set made by 3D printing for large models of the German Tiger I and Tiger II heavy tanks in 1:16 scale. It contains towing cable holders in the early form, and in a workable version: the clamp can actually be opened and closed, so the cable can be secured and taken off again. In 1:16 scale this detail is very clearly visible close up and a clamp cast solid looks out of place there. The set is not a model of the tank.
Towing cables were among the most important equipment on German heavy tanks. The vehicles weighed tens of tons and became bogged down easily in soft ground, so the cable on the hull was the first thing the crew reached for. The holders consisted of a bracket and a hinged clamp that gripped the cable. The form of the holders changed over the course of production; the early and the late version differ in shape as well as in how they are fixed to the hull.
The printed parts are held on thin supports. Snip them off close to the part and level the face with a scalpel. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), but do not flood the moving parts with glue or you will lose the function. Apply a primer before painting. Lay the paint on the joint thinly and work the clamp loose once it has dried, before the coat hardens.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
