The American M-ATV armored vehicle with the M153 weapon station in 1:72 scale, in a special edition complemented by a set of wheels with XZL pattern tires in size 16.00 R20.
Responsibility details are not available.
The M-ATV came about as an answer to two conflicting needs of the Afghan deployment. Heavy armored vehicles stood up to roadside devices, but in the mountains and on dirt tracks they were unwieldy; light vehicles moved briskly, yet they did not survive a blast under the floor. The M-ATV combined a V-shaped hull, which deflects the blast wave to the sides, with a high chassis and independent suspension on every wheel. The result is a tall, narrow and surprisingly nimble vehicle, recognizable at first glance by the armored cab set high above the large off-road wheels. Here the vehicle is listed under the designation M1227. On the roof it carries the remotely operated M153 weapon station: the gunner works it from inside the vehicle, aims through a day and night camera and never has to expose himself.
Besides the vehicle itself with the weapon station, a set of wheels with XZL pattern tires in size 16.00 R20 is included. Tires with a coarse off-road tread are among the most conspicuous elements of the whole vehicle, so they are worth some work.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder, wash and degrease everything before painting, and choose the glue according to the material of the parts. This vehicle lives or dies by its wheels and its underside: the tread takes a dry brush in a lighter tone and, above all, an honest layer of dust that carries on up the sides. Leave the armored glass clean, on the other hand, or the model loses its contrast.
For modelers of modern military vehicles in 1:72 scale and for dioramas from current conflicts. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
