What you get

A flat material from the ThermoArt range measuring 1000 x 500 mm, that is 100 x 50 cm. That corresponds to half a square meter of area. The letters XL in the name are the size code of the range, but the stated dimensions decide, because the same shade is supplied in smaller formats as well. The Armor Grey shade is gray and it is contained in the material, so a part keeps a muted metallic tone even where the surface finish gets scuffed.

Where gray works

Gray is a rewarding base wherever a part is meant to read as metal: breastplates and backplates, pauldrons, greaves, helmets, and also props such as holsters, panels and technical additions to a costume. Against light material it has one practical advantage. Shadows in recesses and grooves look natural even without paint, so you can get by with a thin coat and do not have to cover the whole surface opaquely.

Layout and cutting

You will use the large format best if you draw all the parts onto the sheet at once, before you reach for the blade. Cut the shape out of paper first and try it on yourself or on a mannequin; only transfer a template once it is proven. Cut along a ruler in several shallow passes and change the blade in time, because a dull blade tears the material. Cut paired parts mirrored and label them right away. The name of the range points to heat processing, but check the recommended temperature, the way of forming and the suitable glue in the manufacturer's instructions.

Storage and terms of supply

Store the sheet flat and away from heat sources. The material is supplied in the stated size; paints, glue, fasteners, straps and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
