A plastic kit of one figure of a Persian heavy infantryman of the Greco-Persian Wars period in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the Greco-Persian Wars the infantry of the Persian empire relied on a combination of spear and bow. The front ranks were covered by tall wicker shields, behind which archers stood and from where a shower of arrows came before it came to close combat. Besides their spears the heavier infantrymen carried body protection as well, and their dress tended to be strikingly colorful, which is a rewarding opportunity for a modeler. Against the Greek phalanx this formation was more flexible at a distance, but in a direct clash with the close ranks of hoplites it came off worse.
The package carries injection-molded plastic parts for assembling one figure in 1:32 scale. The figure of an adult man works out at roughly 55 mm in this scale. The figure is divided into several parts, the equipment and the weapons are part of the moldings and everything is joined with cement for polystyrene.
First it is advisable to clean up the parting lines and the flash, then to fill the seams and sand them down. It pays to leave the head and the shield aside and fit them only once they are painted, because otherwise the face and the inner side of the shield are hard to reach. Acrylics and oils both handle painting the cloth, and patterns on the dress are more easily drawn with a fine brush over a base tone that has already dried.
The kit is for modelers of figures and lovers of antiquity, and it also serves well as a counterpart to a Greek figure in a display case or in a diorama. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
